Great day to download some new music…

Somehow I missed all this great new music until today (or maybe I just finally had some free time to actually look around):

  • The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Soundtrack: crappy vampire movie, but great alternative soundtrack featuring Metric, Muse, The Bravery, Vampire Weekend and a lot more.
  • The National – High Violet: this album leaked early, but I finally downloaded it now. They’re a great Brooklyn-based indie band.
  • Kate Nash – My Best Friend Is You:  I played her first album to death after discovering her long before she made it to the States (I actually saw her first NYC show that she had to play for free after failing to get a work visa), but so far this one has not impressed me as much. I’m going to have to give it a few more listens.
  • Kele – The Boxer: solo album from the lead singer of Bloc Party. The singles are pretty good, but I still have to get through the rest of the album.  I was disappointed in Bloc Party’s last album, so hopefully this one is better.
  • Interpol: two tracks (Lights and Barricade) from their September 7 self-titled album have been released, and they’re both classic Interpol.  Lights is in my “heavy rotation.”

Here’s some of the YouTube videos of the above artists. Definitely worth checking out!

Just discovered: M83

Just discovered M83 today. They’ve had a few singles on the alternative stations and I finally got around to checking them out.  Definitely will have to pick up their album…

Great music site –

Ok, so I may be a little bit behind the times, but I just discovered Pandora. This web site is based on the Music Genome Project and allows you to create up to 100 radio stations based on your favorite artists or songs. You input your favorite artist or song and they build a radio station around that artist or song based on a number of algorithms that they have. The stations are pretty accurate and allow you to discover a lot of new music. The basic ad-supported version is free, but you can also buy a membership with no ads. They also have some restrictions on how you can play the music based on the streaming music license they have. All-in-all it’s a great product and an excellent way to discover new music.

What am I listening to? The Sounds – Dying to Say This To You

The Sounds – Dying To Say This To You (Released 3/21/06)
Another Swedish rock group on my favorites list (along with Shout Out Louds, Sahara Hotnights,  and others), I was first turned on to them by the single “Song With A Mission” on Sirius Alt Nation, and have to say the entire album is very strong. We had a chance to catch them at their sold out show at Irving Plaza last week (4/12), and they also put on an amazing show. Unfortunately, Morningwood did not do that much for me as the opener.

Track listing:
1. Song With A Mission (mp3-quicktime) (mp3-windows media) (video)
2. Queen Of Apology (mp3-quicktime) (mp3-windows media)
3. Tony The Beat
4. 24 Hours
5. Painted By Numbers (mp3-quicktime) (mp3-windows media)
6. Night After Night
7. Ego
8. Hurt You
9. Much Too Long
10. Running Out Of Turbo

More soon…

Music? Nightlife? What do I know?

Well, as the President and founder of, I’d have to say that I know a thing or two about nightlife. As for music, I’m just an avid fan and frequent concert goer. (Headed to Coachella next weekend!)  This section of my blog will contain some of my top new music picks and nightlife updates, focusing both on alternative rock and dance.  Hope you enjoy and stick around for the ride!
